[u-u] Satellite Internet?

There have been a number of advertisements for portable Internet
connection devices recently. Pocket-sized, and quite cheap (< $50), they
claim to offer unlimited free Internet access.

These seem both technically and economically improbable. Even if they can
generate enough power to reach a satellite, their size suggests that the
battery would be used up pretty quickly.

Whose satellites would they be using, and why would their owners allow
that sort of free-loading?

Has anyone else seen the advertising, and what o you think are the answers
to those questions? Are they just fakes at a low enough price that most
victims won't bother to demand their money back?
