Are you sure it's talking to a satellite?

The products I found used words and photos to suggest truly everywhere
but were just glorified modem+routers and required you to buy a SIM.
And the reviews stated that it didn't work; and the cost of return was

The technology is there for SMS, for instance apple and samsung phones
talk to starlink, just not for $50.
