Options are overrated.  They rarely change.  Often as not, I need to
check a man page if I'm changing options anyways.

As far as cygwin goes, it has many drawbacks in the windows
environment.  As an example, you can't pin the shell to the task bar. 
The "cost" of creating processes also makes most shell scripting
unbearably slow.
